LPU wrestler Pooja Gehlot to represent India at Birmingham 2022

Pooja Gehlot a women wrestlers studying at Lovely Professional University has recently qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games. She will compete in 50kg weight category freestyle wrestling. She has already shown outstanding performance in some recent competitions with numerous medals along with a bronze medal which she has won at 2021 Senior National Wrestling Championships. In commonwealth games 2022, she will be an important part of the Indian wrestling team.

The Birmingham 2022 is scheduled to be held from 28th July to 8th August 2022. LPU Chancellor Dr Ashok Mittal said: “It’s a matter of immense pride for the LPU family that one more sports woman is on the way to bring more laurels to the country and the university”.

Recently Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Thakur has felicitated boxer from LPU, Parveen after winning bronze madel at 2022 world Championship which is held in turkey.

U-23 World Championships 2019 Gehlot won a silver medal and get an injured in the final round. Dur to The damage to her elbow, she remain out of the wrestling completions till National Wrestling Championships 2021. In 2021 she made a comeback and again won a bronze medal. Pooja won gold in the 53kg division in the absence of Vinesh Phogat
